Introversion Thursday

Sometimes I am taken by an overwhelming desire to avoid all contact and interaction with human beings other than those closest to me. ("Those closest to me" includes internet friends. They do not require me to fake a smile, or speak with pep in my voice, or even look up from my book when I don't want to.) Sometimes I just want to pull an invisibility cloak around myself and hide from the world, completely immersed in my own thoughts, just me and my music and a mug of cocoa. Nobody else.

At work I am able to simulate this situation with a scarf wrapped to my chin, my winter coat buttoned and the hood pulled up, my body hunched over my desk and cup of tea. However I can't avoid the inevitable human interaction when I venture to the break room to heat up my lunch. I escape at the first possible moment and return to my cubicle, a blessed refuge from small talk.

I'm wearing: H&M top, UO cardigan, F21 skirt, earrings from Rose.

I'm not usually like this. I don't often revert to the extreme side of my introverted self, even though I always felt the "I" of my INFJ personality was by far the most prominent of the letters. Sometimes I even feel myself leaning vaguely towards an "E", but inevitably this is short-lived and I remember how much other people exhaust me, how much anxiety they can cause.

It's okay, though. I don't mind too much. Sometimes the stress of life just gets to me and I recoil, waiting it out until I feel safe to emerge. It won't last long.

Tonight I'll watch Tropic Thunder with Greg (Netflix to the rescue), and feel better. Until then I have four and a half hours of human interaction to sustain. Wish me luck. I will need it.

You still look adorable despite that feeling today :)

Gahhh I love that shirt! I love this whole outfit, actually. I envy your skirt.

I feel the same way about people most of the time. I usually just prefer being alone and I hate small talk. I even hate when people walk by my cubicle too often during the say. Like, wtf, sit down.

Yey Tropic Thunder! I hope it helps. . because I am sure it will or I will throw you a few of those Booty drinks from the film.

If you ever do find an invisibility cloak, travel to visit me sometime since you'll be able to get on planes and trains without being noticed and such. hehe. . .unless doing so will cause problems with your social issues you're having right now too.

I love your little pigtails!! Oh my gosh they are so fun!!! I hope you feel better today because you look S-S-STUNNING. . .I stuttered because I was being too shy to tell you at first. I'm just that amazed.

Oh girl, I hear you. I'm super introverted, and have days where I just need to shut my office door and retreat into my cave. INFJs for the win. We can celebrate, but not together....too much interaction...

Also, you are gorgeous in this outfit! I'm semi-obsessed with that skirt, now. :)

I'm a new follower, and I'm excited to keep reading. And I am an introvert as well - sometimes I do need that alone time to just... recharge. And sometimes I just don't want human interaction. Which I don't necessarily think is a bad thing! It's just a part of me that I've accepted. ANYWAY.. haha, I love your style! That shirt is really adorable.

I thoroughly enjoy your writing style. It’s very conversational with a touch of a journalistic style. I think winter turns a lot of us into introverted hermits. It’s okay to want to hibernate all winter long. At least you have time to yourself, books, craft, or whatever you like to do.

Your outfit and photos are adorable. You may be my new favorite blogger.

Oh, I think I understand what you mean. Sometimes I just want to be all by myself but sometimes I feel like I can't be without people. And btw I'm INFJ(P) :D

I LOVE THAT TOP!!! :)

Also, I'm an extrovert, but lately I have felt like being anything but. Winter doldrums...

that's how i feel about 80% of the time - i see my husband and our good friend (also our neighbor) almost every day and i'm happy with just that. the cold weather makes me extremely anti-social.

i'm lovin' your ruffly blouse and little pigtails. you are too cute!

I get so introverted sometimes that I'm surprised I have any friends at all! Meeting new people and having to talk to them is extremely difficult for me-- as a matter of fact I recall 1 or 2 occasions where those situations have even given me panic attacks! Lets just build a really tricked out cave like Batman and have Alfred do all the socializing for us.

LOVE the frilly shirt with the skirt! Looks cute as hell :D

love the blouse, especially with the pigtails!

cold weather makes me an introvert too, although i'm usually pretty social by nature. i've been hanging out all day today alone in my apartment, sleeping and stalking google reader, so who knows what that says about me.

This is one of my favorite outfits ever. That top is so frilly and perfect. Quit being so hot and stylish all the time...no wait, don't!

And I definitely understand wanting an invisibility cloak sometimes. I am a pretty social person, but only with my close family and friends. I hate small talk and awkward silences. Bah!

I totally understand where your coming from. Aside from school i work in retail and im constantly having to force myself to act friendly all the time even to the rudest of people. Some days im ok with that but i get in weird little anti social funks too.
but anywaysss, i love that top! it looks adorable on you.

This is definitely one of my favorites!! That top is AWESOME & it looks great with the camel cardi.

I'm an INFJ too. ^_^ I know exactly this feeling. I am sooo glad I have an office door for days like this. It's quite possible my co-workers think me bitchy but oh well. I need to be a hermit sometimes.

Meg you look adorable! I love the top and I want to steal that skirt!

I am the same way. I have really bad introvert moments, even around my close friends. I need a few hours a week to be alone or I might actually have a break down.

I am so excited about Wardrobe Wanderlust! You girls rock :) Here to There has officially ended :( it will be cool to see you guys swap around, I am always in need for inspiration.

okay, so i just found your blog and said "amen, sister" in my head to your past ten-odd blog posts. we seem to have the same sort of wanderlust (i moved out to portland on a whim, for a year, and i even wanted to go live in a mountaintop monastery for a while) and you seem supercool.

that is all.
